SACO — Shirley A. Lamson, 80, of Saco, passed away Friday, May 27, 2016, at the Greenwood Center in Sanford with her family by her side.

She was born in Biddeford on June 23, 1935, the daughter of Lawrence and Edith Grant Meserve. Shirley attended local schools and graduated from Thornton Academy in 1952. She then attended and graduated from Mount Ida College in 1954.

Shirley first worked at Thibodeau’s Dairy and then for Diamond National Company in Biddeford. In 1963, she became the secretary for the First Parish Congregational Church of Saco UCC, which she held until her retirement in 1994. She was a member of First Parish Congregational Church UCC of Saco and the Woman’s Fellowship.

Shirley was also a member of the North Saco Grange No. 507, the Francena Club of Saco and the Woman’s E and I Union. She enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, quilting, gardening, woodworking and bird watching.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 62 years, Hilton “Bud” Lamson Jr. of Saco; two sons, Dean H. Lamson and his wife Debbi of Old Orchard Beach, and David Lamson and his wife Tammyjo of Saco; two daughters, Doree Lagueux of Standish and Diana Lucas and her husband Bob of Franklin, New Hampshire; five grandchildren, Nick, Amanda, Dara, Dana and Kylie; and two greatgrandchildren, Frank and Anastasia.

Friends and relatives may call 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, June 2, at the Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main St., Saco. A memorial service will immediately follow at noon at the funeral home. A private family graveside service will be held earlier that day.

The family would like to thank the Huntington Commons and Greenwood Center for the care they showed Shirley during her illness.
