A man from New Hampshire was seriously injured Friday in Eliot after crashing a stolen pickup truck, police said.

Eliot Police Chief Elliott Moya said charges will be filed against Jeffrey Mitchell of Farmington, 24, who was driving the stolen Ford F-250 west on Goodwin Road at about 4 p.m. when he lost control of the truck near Ordiorne Lane. The truck hit a pole, a fence and several mailboxes. Mitchell was thrown from the truck.

Mitchell’s license had been suspended.

He is being treated in the intensive care unit of the Portsmouth Regional Hospital in New Hampshire. His condition was not released by the hospital Sunday.

Moya said it appears speed was a factor in the crash. The cause is still under investigation.

Moya said asked anyone with any information about the crash to call Eliot police at 439-1179.
