The Republican doing and undoing of their plan to slash the power of the independent Office of Congressional Ethics, as indicative of their ethical approach to governing, is interesting but not as significant as some of the comments about it by high-ranking Republicans and President-elect Donald Trump.

What was said was that they should focus on more important things! What? What could be more important than the ethical framework in which our nation will be governed?

This will be an interesting year in which we will found out what’s most valued by the president and Congress.
