WESTBROOK — The two juveniles arrested following a Feb. 5 incident involving a teenage girl at the Super 8 motel have been charged with sexual assault.

Ernest Lorange, 16, of Portland, and Rick Powers, 15, of Lisbon Falls, have each been charged with one count of gross sexual assault, a Class A felony. Lorange on Feb. 23 denied the charge in his first court appearance.

Garang Majok, 19, of Lewiston, has also been charged with gross sexual assault. Majok, who was brought to Cumberland County Jail following his arrest, was named by police immediately; the juveniles have been named now that they have been charged with a felony.

Majok, Lorange and Powers are being charged in the sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl at the Super 8 motel at 208 Larrabee Road. Police Captain Steven Goldberg on Wednesday morning said the investigation is still ongoing.

Goldberg last month said police responded to a call Feb. 5 at 8 a.m. for suspicious activity at the motel, where they found people causing a disturbance in the parking lot. The people were connected to Majok and the two teenagers in the motel room, and led police there.

The three suspects were arrested and the victim was taken to the hospital. Goldberg said he’s unsure of the relationship between the victim and the suspects, but that the assault was not random.

Lorange, who has been held at Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland, has a hearing scheduled for March 16. Powers, who has been released to his parents, will make his first court appearance March 9.

Majok’s file at the Maine District Court in Portland has been impounded and was unavailable for viewing.
