SPRINGVALE — Rollande “Ronnie” Chabot, 92, of Springvale, died on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at the Newton Center in Sanford.

Ronnie was born in Sanford on Feb. 23, 1925, to Frank and Mary (Gagne) Ross. She attended the local Catholic schools and graduated as valedictorian of the St. Ignatius High School Class of 1943.

Following high school, she was employed at the Goodall mills before going to work in the insurance industry, eventually establishing her own business which she operated for a few years before leaving to raise her family. In 1948, she married Valde Chabot and together they raised two children and shared 68 years of marriage before his death in 2016.

Ronnie was a devout Catholic and was a communicant of St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish where she had been involved in the choir when she was younger. She enjoyed spending time with her family at their camp on Mousam, playing piano and canning vegetables from her husband’s garden. She had also taken art lessons and liked to do charcoal drawings, sewing, needlework and had volunteered for several years at Roosevelt School in Sanford. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Ronnie was preceded in death by: her husband, Valde Chabot,;and by five siblings, Ralph Ross, Theresa Gauthier, Real “Rusty” Ross, Rita Noel and Marie Sirois.

Surviving are: her two children, Daniel Chabot and his wife, Arlene, of Acton, and Denise Pepin and her husband, David, of Springvale; five grandchildren, Jennifer Bickford and her companion, Shawn Janelle, of Lebanon, Michael Chabot of Nashua, New Hampshire, Matthew Pepin of Portland, Luke Pepin of Springvale and Isaac Pepin of Shapleigh; a great-granddaughter, Emily Chabot of Sanford; and her sister, Jeanine Beaudoin and her husband, Bernard, of Florida.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the Newton Center for the care and compassion shown to Ronnie during her period of declining health.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, June 26, 2017, at St Thérèse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, located on North Avenue, Sanford. The family will begin greeting guests at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.
