“Find something that needs doing and do it” is a lesson I learned growing up in challenging circumstances.

My mother, and the aunties who raised me, inspired a duty to serve, to engage and to commit over the long term. It has been my honor to work with you to create and sustain an inclusive community, where our families and businesses, of all sizes and compositions, can thrive together.

I write to thank Portland voters for the honor and privilege of serving you. I write to thank you for the work we have accomplished together. And I write to ask for your vote on Nov. 7 to continue that service.
