BUXTON — Police said a 37-year-old Waterboro woman was charged Thursday, after a collision Feb. 8 with an SAD 6 school bus carrying about 34 students.
No one on the bus was injured, including the driver and a monitor, according to a press release from the Buxton Police Department.
Buxton Police Chief Troy Cline said in the press release that Melissa Cilley, who was allegedly distracted, was the driver of the car. Cilley was charged with operating after suspension and failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.
The accident occurred around 8:35 a.m. on River Road (Route 112) at the intersection with Upper Egypt Road.
SAD 6 Superintendent Paul Penna and Buxton Center Elementary School Principal Kimberly O’Donnell both responded to the scene.
Police said the school bus sustained minor damage. A Buxton dispatcher said Friday no further details were available.
