ARUNDEL — Laurette A. McAlevey, 89, of Arundel, passed away Friday afternoon on Aug. 24, 2018, at Southern Maine Healthcare in Biddeford.

She was born in Biddeford, on July 4, 1929, a daughter of Ledonia and Aurore (St. Hilaire) Bissonnette. She was educated from Biddeford Schools.

Laurette was employed by John Roberts in Biddeford for over 40 years, retiring in 1995.

She enjoyed bowling and beano. She also liked oil painting and arts and crafts. Her favorite pastimes were watching golf, the New England Patriots and activities at the Ross Center.

Laurette had a great love of family. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family has created wonderful memories that we will hold on to and cherish forever. She will be sadly missed.

Mrs. McAlevey was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Biddeford and a member of the Daughters of Isabella.

She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Harry T. McAlevey on Aug. 6, 2004, by her daughter Gayle Goulet and by her sister Lucille Boilard.

She is survived by her two sons, Stanley G. McAlevey and his wife Phyllis, Bruce E. McAlevey and his wife Sharon, five grandchildren, Wendy, Ryan, Shane, Shaun and Brent, 14 great-grandchildren, two brothers Gerald Bissonnette, Joseph (Ray) Bissonnette, nieces and nephews.

A Visiting Hour will be from 9 to 10 a.m. with a Funeral Service at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James St., Saco.
