WELLS — The Historical Society of Wells and Ogunquit (HSWO) will conduct the second annual Market at the Meetinghouse, fundraiser to be held at their location on Route 1 in Wells on Saturday, June 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This event is open to anyone in the community who would like to participate as a vendor of a small business. The Historical Society will offer eight feet by five feet spaces for $25.

Participants must bring their own table, and are responsible for all set-up/take-down of equipment and goods. There are a limited number of spaces available, and those interested are advised to buy a space early as the deadline is Tuesday, June 25.

All proceeds from the sale of vendor spaces will go to the upkeep of Meetinghouse Museum and current projects include restoration of the 1865 Sheffield Bell in the historic building’s bell tower.

For more information about membership, or to buy a space, contact Julia at 646-4775 or email info@wohistory.org.

All ages are invited to come by as you never know what treasures you might find. There will be an old fashioned lemonade stand with goodies. A generous doughnut donation from Congdon’s Doughnuts, a longtime friend of the Historical Society, will make very happy yard sale shoppers.

It does take a village to bring together this event and the Society is grateful to CVS for offering overflow parking in their adjacent lot as well as to Peace of Mind Landscape and Tick Control for donating wood stakes.

Crystal Dubois, a director on the HSWO Board, looks forward to the day.

“This will be a wonderful event and we are excited to see our community come out to support the Historical Society of Wells and Ogunquit,” Dubois said.

An 1862 Meetinghouse is the headquarters of the Historical Society of Wells and Ogunquit. The Meetinghouse Museum is also home to the Esselyn Perkins Library, one of the finest genealogical collections in southern Maine.

The Society’s Meetinghouse is on the National Register of Historical Places and a meetinghouse has been on this site since the year 1662, when the first English settlers came to Wells. The building is a beautiful light-filled space in the Gothic Revival style with historic original features.
