Who is condemning Denmark?

Mark Aberletain stated in a recent Letter to the Editor that “we are now condemning Denmark because the prime minister there, Mette Frederiksen, expressed the sentiment that the country did not want to sell Greenland to the United States.”

“Expressed the sentiment?” That characterization is not even close to accurate.

The Prime Minister’s actual comment was insulting: she called President Trump’s proposal to purchase Greenland “absurd.” Verbally. In public. To reporters.

”Trump complained Wednesday at the White House that Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen’s statement was “not nice” and showed disrespect.

“All she had to do was say ‘No, we wouldn’t be interested,’ ” he told reporters. “She’s not talking to me, she’s talking to the United States of America.”

If someone invites you to their home & then insults you in public, wouldn’t you decline the invitation?

Furthermore, nobody is “condemning Denmark” — that comment is “absurd.” The President postponed a trip – he didn’t condemn Denmark.

(By the way, the U.S. built an Air Force base in Thule, Greenland in 1943. It is still a very strategic element of our national defense today. The U,S, did attempt to purchase Greenland in 1946, but Denmark politely declined the $100 million offer.)

The Left loves to condemn President Trump for his rough language, but they go deaf when his opponents mimic him.
