Richard A. Tannoia

SOUTH PORTLAND – Richard A. Tannoia, 96, of South Portland, died of natural causes on March 8, 2022 at the Barron Center.

Richard was born in New Haven, Conn. on Sept. 9, 1925, the son of Joseph and Bertha Tannoia. He served in the United States Navy and was a World War II veteran. He worked construction and had a long career in the New York-New Haven-Hartford Railroad as a conductor and yardmaster.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, golfing, singing, dancing, woodworking and gardening. He lived a long and full life and was devoted to his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be extremely missed by all his loved ones.

Richard was predeceased by his wife, Jean Alice Tannoia; daughter, Linda Vanderburgh; brothers Dominic and Onesime Tannoia, sisters Dina Martino, Ella Nuzzo, Rosemarie Salzono and Dot Sheppa.

He is survived by son, Richard Tannoia and wife Teresa, son, Philip Tannoia and wife Tracy; grandchildren Jason, Christine, Zachary, Ricky, Dominic, Joey and Derek; great-grandchildren Ginny and Josie; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

There will be a private graveside service and Celebration of Life for his family and friends.
