Frances “Fran” Lewia Robinson

KENNEBUNK – Frances “Fran” Lewia Robinson, a lifelong resident of Kennebunk, died at 89 years old on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2022 in Kennebunk after being diagnosed with Dementia.

Fran was born in Skowhegan on Jan. 20, 1933. The daughter of Eugene and Stella A. (Plourde) Lewia, she attended Kennebunk schools and graduated from Robinson Seminary High School in Exeter, N.H.

It was in the Kennebunk schools where Fran met the love of her life, Lloyd W. Robinson. They married on March 7, 1953 and shared 68 happy years together, both in Kennebunk and in Port St. Lucie, Fla. before his passing in 2021.

Fran worked alongside Lloyd in the family realty, construction, and residential home development businesses. She excelled at drawing house plans and designed many of the homes that Lloyd built. Fran ran a gift shop in Lower Village called Ms Cin, and a resale clothing shop for children in Wells called Kids Exchange. She also worked in various shops in Kennebunk and had a knack for arranging items and window design. Fran was an incredible seamstress who made many dresses and outfits for her family and friends.

She was an avid bridge player and belonged to bridge clubs, as well as the Senior Center in Kennebunk and the Arundel Yacht Club. Hostess extraordinaire, her enjoyment of entertaining and hosting gatherings served her well as she took on planning and decorating many large events for the Shriners, the Arundel Yacht Club, and the Spanish Lakes Club House in Port St. Lucie, Fla. She loved to dance and go boating with Lloyd in the “Love Bug,” a boat he built just for her.

Fran was predeceased by her parents; and by her husband, Lloyd W. Robinson in 2021.

Fran is survived by her son, Gary Robinson and his wife, Cathy of Yarmouth, daughter, Cinda Soderlind of Kennebunk; five grandchildren, Lindsey, Ben, Jamie, Leanne and Kristen; and five great-grandchildren, Landon, Caroline, Maylia, Emily and Steven. She is also survived by her brothers Robert Lewia and his wife, Pat and Richard Lewia and his wife, Donna, all of Kennebunk, brother-in-law, Norman Robinson, sister-in-law, Chris Robinson; and many nieces and nephews.
