Lifelong Bath resident Sean Paulhus will once again represent his hometown in Augusta after the Democrat defeated Republican challenger Jason Desjardins in Tuesday’s contest for House District 50, according to unofficial results.
“It’s always a great honor to represent the citizens of Bath,” Paulhus said. “We’re ready to roll up our sleeves and get to work in Augusta when the time comes.”
Paulhus, a Bowdoin College security officer, has represented the Democratic stronghold since winning a special election in 2019.
According to unofficial results from the Bath Town Clerk’s office, he won 70% of the vote on Tuesday, his largest margin of victory in his three State House races.
He credited widespread Maine Democratic victories on Tuesday to the Mills administration’s legislative successes.
“I think the citizens understood the hard work and the issues we worked on, especially during the last two years with Covid,” he said. “There’s a lot of work to continue.”
He hopes to fight rising home and energy prices during his next two-year term.
