Library association honors Portland principal

Portland High School Principal Sheila Jepson has been named the Maine Association of School Libraries’ 2023 School Administrator of the Year. Jepson received the award at a surprise ceremony March 22 and received a donation for the school’s library media program.

“We celebrate Principal Jepson’s commitment to having a robust school library with a collection that provides all students access to books and resources to better understand our world and all the different perspectives that are a part of it,” Interim co-Superintendents Aaron Townsend and Melea Nalli said in a prepared statement.

Jepson has been PHS principal since 2016. She joined Portland Public Schools in 2006 and has served as assistant principal at Deering High School and as the district’s academic coordinator.
