Firefighters from three departments quickly contained a blaze at a single-family home in Scarborough on Saturday morning.

Scarborough dispatchers received a call about the fire at 451 County Road just before 10:30 a.m. The lack of pressurized fire hydrants in that part of town prompted firefighters from Scarborough, Buxton and Saco to respond to the two-story home. Crews got the fire under control in about 30 minutes.

Scarborough fire Chief Rich Kindelan said the cause of the fire is still undetermined, but it is not considered suspicious.

The fire started in the bathroom on the main floor. The homeowner closed the bathroom door before evacuating, and the chief credited that action with preventing the flames from doing more damage to the property. Firefighters contained the blaze to the bathroom and the attic, although moderate damage did require the family to temporarily relocate.

No one was injured.
