SMRT Architects and Engineers has promoted several employees to either principal or associate principal. Promoted to associate principal are: Stephen Landry,  who has over 40 years of experience in information technology; Senior Architect Jessica Johnson; Jean Gabriel, who has over 17 years of experience managing employee relations, recruitment, and staff development; Kerry Dineen, who has over 17 years of experience in fire protection and mechanical engineering design; and Philip Chaney,  who has contributed to many award-winning architectural projects in New England. Rebecca Casey has been promoted to principal. Her career has focused on health care planning and design. Also promoted to principal is Bradley Baker, who is a certified Passive House architect.

Jack Phillips

Jack Phillips has been named executive director of The Portland Parks Conservancy. Most recently, Phillips served as director of advancement of the Maine Island Trail Association. He earned his master’s of public administration from New York University and holds a B.A. from Colby College in Waterville.

Michelle Allen

Michelle Allen has been hired as senior vice president and chief human resources officer at MEMIC. Allen has an MBA from Southern New Hampshire University and additional certifications, including certified employee benefits specialist, compensation management specialist, and senior professional in human resources. Most recently, she served as executive vice president at Androscoggin Bank.

Kate Hannan

Kate Hannan has been hired as a real estate agent by Fontaine Family Team. Hannan holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of New Hampshire. Previously, she owned and operated a gift and candy store in Bar Harbor.

Michael Chapman

Michael Chapman has been hired as the job readiness program manager at Apex Youth Connection. Chapman has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Vermont. He is also a Maine junior high school and high school basketball official.

Haley Ward Inc. has hired a total of 12 new employees at their offices in Bangor, Waterville, Saco and Portland. Alexander Vadney, EIT, has joined as a civil project engineer; Wendell Harriman II, PE, as a senior project engineer; Kenneth Nguyen, EIT, as a senior project engineer; Scott Christiansen as a structural engineer; Wil Combs as a designer; Chelsea Getchell as proposal coordinator;  Ames Quimby, PE, as a project manager; Scott Kibler, PE, as a senior project engineer; Peter Merrill as a CAD drafter/designer; Simeon Willey as a mechanical engineer; Savy Kuch as a BIM/CAD technician and Jessica Seeley as a BIM/CAD technician.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Dajuan Eubanks

Dajuan Eubanks is the new board president at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine. Eubanks is the president of the Maine Celtics. He graduated from Rice University with a bachelor of arts in business management before being recruited by the Harlem Globetrotters. Eubanks is a co-founder of Blue Wave Basketball and a member of the board at the University of Southern Maine Foundation, Maine State Chamber of Commerce, USM Promise Scholarship Campaign Leadership Committee, Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Androscoggin Bank’s MainStreet Foundation.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine has added four members to its board of directors: Tom Coyne, Amanda KarombaTim Masse, and Ryan Scallon. Coyne previously served on the board of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Karomba is the chief executive officer of Happy Haven. Masse is currently working as a startup business mentor at the Roux Institute’s Healthcare Founder Residency program. Scallon is the superintendent of Portland’s public schools.

Crossroads, an addiction and behavioral health treatment center in southern Maine, has added and reelected six board members. Jolie Ritzo has been elected as the new board president. Ritzo is the vice president, strategy and network engagement at Civitas Networks for Health. Emily Semenchuk has been elected as the new vice president. Semenchuk owns and operates Equine Connection Maine LLC, and is also the regional technical service manager for Waste Management’s Eastern technical service center. Geanette Treadway was elected as board treasurer. Treadway has been on the board since 2022. Kira Pridham was elected as the board secretary. Pridham works as a senior software development manager at Idexx. Jamie Clisham joined as a member of the board. Clisham is the vice president, data & analytics at Machias Savings Bank. Joshua Murphy was reelected as a board member. Murphy is the manager, health management analytics at Martin’s Point Health Care.

David Van Slyke

David Van Slyke, the managing partner at Preti Flaherty, has been elected to the Board of Regents of the American College of Environmental Lawyers. Van Slyke is the only environmental lawyer in New England who was elected as an ACOEL regent for 2023-24. He joined Preti Flaherty in 1991 and served as chair of the firm’s Environmental Practice Group from 1995-2020.

Lisa Cote

Lisa Cote has been appointed controller at Constant. Previously, Cote served as controller at ACA Foreside Group.
