A teenager escaped serious injury Monday in South Berwick when her car was rear-ended and nearly flattened by a tractor-trailer truck that police said had been following too closely.
The driver of the 2004 Dodge Intrepid – a 17-year-old girl whose name was unavailable – was attempting to make a left turn from Route 236 onto Vine Street around 10:15 a.m. Monday when the collision took place.
Police said the force of the collision pushed the girl’s car about 150 feet off the road and into a wooded area. The car and the truck became locked together and had to be pulled apart by a wrecker.
The truck belongs to Brian Forst Transport, a trucking company in Gilmanton, N.H. The driver of the truck was not injured.
