AUGUSTA — A poet from western Maine will become the state’s next poet laureate.
According to the Governor’s Office, First Lady Ann LePage, the wife of Gov. Paul LePage, will officially install Wesley McNair into the post today at the Blaine House.
The 69-year-old McNair lives in the western Maine town of Mercer and is a professor emeritus at the University of Maine at Farmington. He is the author of 18 books of poetry, prose and edited anthologies.
McNair is the state’s fourth Poet Laureate. He will serve a five-year term.
