Silvano Ismail poured in 31 points for Cheverus, but Portland staved off a comeback by the Stags as it held on for a 46-43 win in a Class AA boys’ basketball game Saturday at the Portland Expo.

Jeissey Khamis led Portland (7-2) with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Pitia Donato had nine points, seven rebounds and four steals.

Cheverus (7-3), which nearly overcame a 40-27 deficit in the fourth, had a four-game winning streak snapped.

SOUTH PORTLAND 65, SCARBOROUGH 50: Gabe Galarraga sank four 3-pointers and finished with 21 points as the Red Riots (8-1) topped the Red Storm (2-6) in Scarborough.

Jaelen Jackson helped out with 18 points. Nafees Padgett added 10.

Spencer Booth led Scarborough with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Liam Jefferds scored 10.

FREEPORT 78, POLAND 69: JT Pound scored 29 points to lead the Falcons (3-3) past the Knights (2-5) in Poland.

Cody Wall added 15 points and Will Maneikis chipped in with 10.

John Patenaude poured in 33 points for Poland. Hayden Christner sank six of Poland’s 14 3-pointers and finished with 19 points.

WESTBROOK 56, KENNEBUNK 33: Aiden Taylor scored 14 points, and Kolbyn Dunphe and Ben Eugley each had 11 to lead the Blue Blazes (7-2) over the Rams (3-3) in Westbrook.

Theo Pow led Kennebunk with six points.

BRUNSWICK 55, BIDDEFORD 51: Trevor Gerrish posted 26 points and 17 rebounds and Thomas Harvey had 21 and five assists, helping the Dragons (3-5) defeat the Tigers (2-7) in Brunswick.

Julius Silva scored 16 points for Biddeford. Drew Smyth chipped in 15.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 91, LAKE REGION 68: Nate Hebert sank seven 3-pointers and amassed 42 points to lead Patriots (6-2) to a victory over the Lakers (3-5) in Gray.

Noah Hebert (16 points), Max Kenney (15) and Mike Ryan (10) also ended up in double figures for Gray-New Gloucester

Jackson Libby scored 30 points for Lake Region.

WINDHAM 75, DEERING 48: Blake McPherson scored 14 of his 20 points in the first quarter to start the Eagles (2-7) on their way to a win over the Rams (0-8) in Portland.

Creighty Dickson added 17 points and Erik Bowen tossed in 10 for Windham, which led 23-14 after one quarter and 40-19 at halftime.

Evan Legassey led Deering with 14 points. Tripp Marston and David Otti chipped in with 10 apiece.

NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 46, SEACOAST CHRISTIAN 29: Brayden Kloza dropped in 17 points and Nate Olney added 11 as the Panthers (3-5) beat the Guardians (2-6) in Eliot.

Dan Poirier led Seacoast Christian with eight points.

OXFORD HILLS 74, MASSABESIC 32: Holden Shaw scored 15 points as the Vikings (8-1) overpowered the Mustangs (0-7) in Waterboro.

Josiah Vigue scored 11 points for Massabesic.

WELLS 65, YORK 58: Spencer Carpenter collected 17 points and 12 rebounds for the Warriors (3-5) in a win over the Wildcats (4-3) at Wells.

Caden Dufort also had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Kayden Springer added 14 points and Eli Roy tossed in 11.

Jake Fogg led York with 21 points.

GREELY 58, YARMOUTH 48: Tyler Pettengill scored eight of his 17 points in the third quarter to help the Rangers (4-4) pull away from the Clippers (3-3) in Cumberland.

Seamus Raftice added 13 points for Greely, which outscored Yarmouth 22-11 in the third quarter to open a 42-25 lead.

Yarmouth’s Stephen Walsh poured in 27 points, including 16 in the fourth.

MEDOMAK VALLEY 51, MT. ARARAT 46: Kory Donlin led the the Panthers (7-1) with 19 points as they defeated the Eagles (3-4) at Waldoboro.

Jaiden Starr chipped in with 10 points.

Mt. Ararat was paced by John Martin with 14 points and Andrew Clemons with 12.

ST. DOMINIC 68, PINE TREE ACADEMY 41: Matt Fecteau led a balanced offense with 11 points as the Saints (3-5) defeated the Breakers (0-3) in Freeport.

Silas Yeaton scored 11 points for PTA.

HOCKEY

MARSHWOOD 3, WINDHAM 2: Josh Sawyer’s goal 3:57 into overtime capped Marshwood/Traip/Sanford/Noble’s comeback from a 2-0 deficit against Windham/Westbrook/Bonny Eagle/Sacopee Valley (3-2) at USM Ice Arena.

The Knighthawks (3-2) tied the game on second-period goals by Emmett Hammond and Zach Camp.

Sam Foley and Mason Caron scored for the Blazers, both assisted by Phillip Traina.

CAMDEN HILLS 11, GREELY 0: Owen McManus tallied seven goals as the Windjammers (4-2) beat the Rangers (1-5) in Falmouth.

Billy Kurzius, Bennett Gardner, Cameron Brown and Jacob Talbot also scored. Quinn Hoppin stopped 10 shots for the shutout.

Will Klein made 19 saves for Greely.
