Reporter – Mainely Media

Mainely Media is looking for a general assignment reporter who is a self-starter with excellent writing skills and curiosity to report on local news. Mainely Media, based in Biddeford, Maine, publishes four local, weekly community publications, including the Biddeford-Saco-Old Orchard Beach Courier, the Kennebunk Post, the Scarborough Leader and the South Portland-Cape Elizabeth Sentry. Stories will range from coverage of local town council meetings to human interest features and everything in between.

Applicants should have excellent grammar, knowledge of AP style, the ability to tell a story in written form and feel comfortable with all sorts of people. The successful candidate will be an essential member of our newsroom team who will be counted on to own their beat and turn in clean copy under deadline. The reporter will also have the freedom to pursue personal projects, such as in-depth investigative pieces. You will need excellent interview, writing and photography skills as well as knowledge of posting to social media. Must have reliable transportation. Some night and weekend work may be required.

This is an ideal job for someone graduating with a journalism degree or one to two years of experience.
