With ticket prices topping out at all of $12, Los Angeles Coliseum was only about two-thirds full as the NFL’s Green Bay Packers, led by quarterback Bart Starr, defeated the AFL’s Kansas City Chiefs, 35-10.

The NFL’s Colts were prohibitive favorites going into the game despite Namath’s brash guarantee of a Jets victory. Namath did not throw a touchdown during the game, but he earned MVP honors as he led the Jets to a 16-7 win, still considered one of the biggest upsets in American sports.
