PORTLAND — A Portland woman was charged tonight with aggravated assault and reckless conduct with a motor vehicle after she allegedly tried to run over her roommate with a car.

Lt. Gary Hutcheson said 35-year-old Mary Webb allegedly hit 33-year-old Kenneth Burton with her car while he was standing on Sherman Street. Webb’s six-year-old son was in the 1992 Dodge Neon with her at the time.

Hutcheson said the incident took place during an argument that Webb and Burton were having. Burton was transported by ambulance to Maine Medical Center with non life threatening injuries.

Webb was taken into custody at 114 Park Avenue. Webb told police it was an accident.
