BRUNSWICK — Kaitlin Donahoe finished with game-high totals of 19 points and 10 rebounds and also had four assists to lead Bowdoin (24-5) to a 61-53 victory over Mount St. Mary (26-3) in the second round of the NCAA Division III tournament on Saturday night.

Bowdoin held the Blue Knights scoreless for the first 4:35 of the game and opened the first half on a 13-4 run.

Mount St. Mary rallied to go ahead 18-17 with 7:29 left in the first half.

That turned out to be the only lead of the game for the Blue Knights as the Polar Bears closed out the first half on a 15-1 run to go into halftime with a 32-19 lead.

Mount St. Mary cut the deficit to 37-36 with 11:04 left in the game.

The Polar Bears responded with eight straight points, including six points by senior forward Ellery Gould, and led by at least five points the rest of the way.

Katie Bergeron added 14 points, four rebounds and four assists for the Polar Bears and Gould finished with 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting.

Bowdoin advances to face Babson (29-0) in the third round of the tournament on Friday.

Babson defeated SUNY Geneseo 65-53 in their second-round game.
