As a registered Republican and an Eliot Cutler supporter, I am delighted by the recent improvement in the polls and the emergence of prominent Republican businessmen as supporters.

Perhaps the two are related. After all, Eliot is essentially a fiscal conservative.

Unlike our current governor, however, Eliot would never refuse to submit a supplemental budget out of pique; veto bipartisan budgets; refuse to allow department heads to meet with legislative committees; require the press to submit FOIA requests to obtain his schedule; or refuse to meet with legislative leadership while meeting instead with the Constitutional Coalition and requesting a sheriff to serve “remonstrances” on state officials.

If you are a Republican and support total government dysfunction, by all means support the current governor. If, however, you are interested in seeing sanity restored to state government, independent Eliot Cutler is the way to go. The polls seem to back this up.
