We are a beneficiary state, which means Maine gets more federal money back than we pay in.

Yet by refusing to expand MaineCare, Gov. Paul LePage allows Maine to lose a million dollars a day that would be paid to us under the Affordable Care Act and would provide health care to 70,000 Mainers (including 3,000 veterans).

LePage has also thrown away $900,000 by way of the no-bid contract with the Alexander Group for a report that had a $575 million calculation error in it.

Also lost because of the LePage administration was $20 million in federal funding when the Riverview Psychiatric Center lost its accreditation due to poor operating procedures.

LePage’s mentality of “it’s my way or the highway” has blocked several voter-approved, job-creating bonds for road and bridge construction.

Maine needs someone who is stable, civil and actually effective as a leader. Democrat Mike Michaud is that man.
