Portland artist Greta Bank is among 10 U.S. artists to receive as $12,000 grant from a New York foundation that recognizes emerging artists.
The Joan Mitchell Foundation awarded the grant because of Bank’s work and her commitment to her career and community. The grant is intended to further her practice and encourage career sustainability.
Bank is an adjunct instructor at Maine College of Art. She has shown her art at the DeCordova Biennial, SPACE Gallery and the Center for Maine Contemporary Art. She received her BFA from The Cooper Union and her MFA from the University of Arizona.
She creates site-specific installations. She works downtown at SPACE Studios, which provides space for 30 artists and the printmaking collective Pickwick Independent Press. SPACE Gallery purchased the building in July 2015.
