Hires, promotions, appointments

Anderson

Alf Anderson has been appointed as the associate state director for advocacy and outreach at the AARP Maine state office in Portland. He previously served as director of membership and marketing from 2015 to 2019, as well as executive director of the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce from 2019 to 2022.

Dana Totman will serve as the interim executive director of Portland Trails. Totman was the CEO of Avesta Housing for 22 years. He founded the Maine Affordable Housing Coalition in 2000 and he was the deputy director of Maine State Housing from 1994 to 2000.

Laurie Bragg is the new executive director of the Maine 4-H Foundation. She joined the foundation at the Magic Lantern Innovation Center as assistant director in March 2022 and recently left her position of outreach and program director at EPSCor at the University of Maine for nine years.

Recognition

Robin Hodgskin, a senior vice president and financial advisor at Morgan Stanley wealth management, was named to Forbes magazine’s Top Women Wealth Advisors list of 2023. She joined the firm in 1987 as a financial advisor at their Boston location, escalated to branch manager, and in 2010 moved to the Portland office.

Four Morgan Stanley wealth management teams based in Portland were named to Forbes magazine’s 2023 list of America’s Best-In-State Wealth Management Teams. The groups included the Breakwater Group, consisting of Cameron Shorey, Jane Stevens and Gary Bergeron; the Portland Group of Jay Cross and Steven Marsanskis; the Doolan/Eldredge Group of Theresa Coburn, Iain Eldredge, Todd Doolan and Devlin Carrol; and the Downeast Group of Brian McHugh, Andrew Thomas, Jennifer Beecher, Lauren Stone, Michael Melo and Richard Rosu-Myles.

Giving back

USCellular donated $56,300 in 50 wireless hotspots and two years of service to Through These Doors, a domestic violence resource center in Portland. The donation is directed at the After School Access Project, which works to give families across the county reliable internet connections to allow access to resources and to combat isolation. Through These Doors provides education, emergency shelter and transitional services, legal assistance and more to help survivors and prevent domestic abuse, dating violence and stalking in Cumberland County.
