Scholarship available
for journalism studies

Graduates of Maine high schools who plan to pursue a career in journalism or a related field are eligible for the Guy P. Gannett Scholarship Fund through the Maine Community Foundation. Applications are open until April 1.

Named for the businessman who formed the Portland Press Herald in 1921, the fund helps with expenses to attend an undergraduate, graduate, trade or technical school. Students are chosen based on demonstrated interest in journalism through their choice of coursework and extracurricular activities, as well as financial need and academic achievement. Award amounts vary based on need and other factors.

Maine students who were home schooled in their last year of secondary education also are eligible.
