Pressroom Manager (Nights)
The Portland Press Herald is seeking a Night Pressroom Manager for our busy press room. The Pressroom Manager is responsible for the nightly workflow of the department.
Responsibilities Include:
- Supervising pressroom personnel – including staffing, training, scheduling, and safety
- Assist the VP of Production in the operation of the department to meet short and long term goals including budgeting, maintenance and workflow
- Directs and assigns duties with the Assistant Foremen
- Works with the prepress department in the layout of press runs, press configurations and print schedules.
- Communicates with other departments – including distribution to ensure work meets quality standards and deadlines.
Our Ideal candidate has:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate across multiple departments and levels
- Keen attention to detail and time management
- Previous Management Experience in a Pressroom Setting
- Proficient with all pressroom equipment and systems
- Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience managing in a union environment is a plus
- Commitment to safety training and procedures
