A Portland-based telecommunications and IT company has acquired a Gulf Coast company to expand operations in the Southeast.

Tilson Technology acquired Mobile, Alabama-based Magnolia Tower and Tech Services for an undisclosed price. Tilson CEO Joshua Broder said the transaction provides Tilson with new skills in wireless tower maintenance and expands its service area for national cellular wire carriers.

“The Gulf Coast region is underserved in our industry and traditionally a difficult place to recruit and retain skilled technical labor,” Broder said in an email. “Tilson is experiencing record growth in the Southeast deploying and maintaining networks for cellular carriers, Wi-Fi providers, utilities and public safety. Having the Magnolia field service team join us is allowing us to meet this growing demand without sacrificing quality or safety.”

In 2013, Tilson acquired the Southeast network construction division of WD Wright. It now has seven regional offices and employs 120.

Tilson was included in the Inc. 5000 of America’s fastest-growing private corporations in 2015, its fifth consecutive year ranking on the list. It reported revenue of $12.6 million in 2014, a 73 percent increase over 2011.
