Re: “The working life of Eliot Cutler” (Sept. 14):

Readers of the Maine Sunday Telegram have been presented with a substantial amount of information concerning the candidates for Maine governor.

It is apparent that Eliot Cutler has the most extensive professional vitae. Readers who conclude that his qualifications are best suited for governing Maine will certainly vote for him in November.

At the same time, Cutler’s extensive academic and professional credentials make him an outstanding candidate to become the next president of the University of Southern Maine. He would certainly stand out in any pool of applicants. It is my hope and expectation that he will be nominated to that post when the search begins for the next USM president.
