Jase Graves: A Christmas cell phone miracle
I’ve always taken great pride in the tender care I give to my cell phone. Until recently, I could boast that with all of the various cellular devices I’ve possessed through the years (dating back to the first Motorola bag phone my dad gave me during the Early Iron Age), I’d never once had so […]

Dick Polman: Scott Atlas has quit, but can’t scrub the blood off his hands
It’s nice to get good news for a change. On Monday, two more swing states certified Joe Biden’s solid victory. And in Washington, MAGA doctor Scott Atlas quit his job. In the spirit of a famous children’s book, I say to him: “Good night, loon.” As Trump’s criminally negligent regime withers and dies, it’s imperative […]

From the Chamber: A message of thanks for business leaders and citizens
With Thanksgiving come and gone, and the last of the turkey sandwiches being eaten, it may seem like we are past the window of mentioning gratitude. However, I don’t feel giving thanks should have a season. With that, I did want to share with all of you a message of thanks we sent to many […]

Letter: The real worry
Edward Lovely writes in his guest column of Nov. 27, “It can’t happen here (or can it?),” about the possibility of an authoritarian individual in the Oval Office. We should be more worried about the reality of authoritarian, anonymous, unelected Big Government, at all levels, writing design specifications for automobiles, light bulbs, dishwashers and social […]

Commentary: How Biden and Kerry could rebuild America’s global climate leadership
John Kerry helped bring the world into the Paris climate agreement and expanded America’s reputation as a climate leader. Ron Chase: A special day on stormy South Moat
When I announced a Penobscot Paddle and Chowder Society mountain hike on either Mount Chocorua or South Moat Mountain in New Hampshire, my friends Shweta and Ryan Galway immediately agreed to join me. Frequent outdoor companions and young enough to be my daughter and son; they’re a testament to the fact that not all my […]
