Independent gubernatorial candidate Eliot Cutler has not highlighted the fact that after the 2010 election, state Democratic Party leaders invited him, first, to carry them to the Blaine House in 2014. Gov. LePage brought it up at the last debate, trying to weaken support for Democratic candidate Mike Michaud.

Cutler could have had a much easier path to the governor’s mansion, but he chose to invest his own time and money in an independent campaign. He did not want to be beholden to the far left of the Democratic Party machine.

This should prove to Maine voters that Cutler would rather govern the state than simply be the governor. This commitment should earn your vote.
