Growing up in Maine, I remember Gov. Ed Muskie and his caring and concern for the welfare of all Mainers. He’d worked hard to achieve his goals, and never forgot those who helped him along the way.

Democratic U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud has shown much of the same spirit in his public service, and I especially appreciate his understanding those of us who are more concerned about maintaining our family homes than choosing where to locate our weekend getaways. Choosing to re-elect Gov. LePage means four more years of crude behavior and more hard times for retired teachers, who, like me, have been deprived of promised retiree benefits.

I like Mike. He’s punched a time clock, struggled to live on a working man’s salary and been true to his promises.

On Election Day, I look forward to voting for Mike Michaud, a leader Maine can be proud of.
